NEW YORK — The consulting firm Accenture appointed a C-suite executive to help it expand its capabilities to design, implement and monitor AI in "a responsible way.”
Accenture named Arnab Chakraborty as its first chief responsible AI officer, according to the firm this month.
The move is part of Accenture's efforts to grow its responsible AI abilities, including partnerships, to help clients scale generative AI responsibly.
Most recently, Chakraborty was a leader in Accenture's data and AI practice.
“Clients are eager to embrace the potential of generative AI,” said Julie Sweet, chair and CEO, Accenture. “Our focus is to enable our clients to innovate AI safely and be ready to seize the opportunities that AI will bring in the decades ahead.”

Accenture believes the current rise of AI is "unlike previous waves of innovation — the technology, regulation and business adoption are accelerating exponentially and simultaneously, creating a unique set of challenges and implications for organizations," Accenture said.
Chakraborty have over two decades of experience and holds 10 patents in machine learning (ML) solutions for business challenges.
Chakraborty has been involved in shaping the World Economic Forum AI Governance Alliance as a member of the US Senate AI Insight Forum, advising on the practical considerations of balancing AI innovation while mitigating risks.
“Leaders acknowledge the importance of responsible AI principles, but there is a gap in their practical implementation," Chakraborty said. "Our research shows that only 2% of companies have fully operationalized responsible AI across their organizations.”
