Google Pauses an Image Generation Function

After seeing that Gemini is providing inaccuracies in “some historical image generation depictions” of people, Mountain View, California-based Google is pausing image generation of people, according to a post at X. The company is addressing the issues, saying it is “missing the mark here,” and it will “re-release an improved version soon.”

Stability AI Previewing Stable Diffusion 3

London-based Stability AI is in the preview stage of Stable Diffusion 3, which the company calls its “most capable” text-to-image model. Stability AI says this version of the image generator is designed to improve performance in multi-subject prompts, image quality and spelling. The company is opening the waitlist to preview the tool.

Jasper Acquires Clipdrop

The generative AI app company Jasper acquired Paris-based Clipdrop, an AI image creation and editing platform, from Stability AI. The deal is a “significant step” in Jasper's goal to offer a comprehensive multimodal copilot for marketing and marks its entry into the European market. "Marketing is visual," said Jasper CEO Timothy Young.

Google Releases AI Writing Feature for Chrome

Google added an AI “Help me write” feature for Chrome users. The browser feature is powered by Gemini models and can help users both start and refine their writing. The tool is also designed to understand a user’s web page to “suggest relevant content.” The feature currently supports Chrome users on a Mac or a Windows PC in the U.S in English.

ISC2 Publishes 'AI in Cyber'

Alexandria, Virginia-based ISC2, a nonprofit association of cybersecurity professionals, shared several findings from its report “AI in Cyber 2024,” which is based on a survey of cybersecurity pros: 82% are optimistic AI will improve job efficiency; 75% are moderately to extremely concerned AI will be used for cyberattacks or other malicious activities; 82% feel a need for comprehensive and specific AI regulations on AI's safe and ethical use; and 27% said their organization has formal policies on the safe and ethical use of AI.

Iterable Shares Survey Results on AI in Marketing

San Francisco-based Iterable, an AI customer communications platform, released AI findings from its survey of marketing professionals: 91% are using AI in their jobs; 49% find AI intimidating; 89% are at least somewhat concerned about needing to acquire AI skills; 48% of marketing teams are fully trained on AI; and 75% are optimistic AI will create jobs and growth.

ADP Integrates With AI Partners

The Roseland, New Jersey-based HR services provider ADP added integrated AI products by its partners to ADP Marketplace, which features over 800 partners. The marketplace uses machine learning to surface HR applications for clients. ADP says its partners must adopt its “responsible AI principles.”

Beacon AI Inks Agreement With US

The Silicon Valley AI aviation company Beacon AI was awarded a phase two prototype agreement by the U.S. Special Operations Command. The deal calls for Beacon AI to enhance its AI copilot assistant to “optimize aircraft operations and improve aircraft route selection.” The AI technology should help crews make decisions and reduce fuel consumption.

RhythmX AI Partnering With Sentara Health

Palo Alto, California-based RhythmX AI, a generative AI company for physicians, formed a strategic partnership with Hampton Roads, Virginia-based Sentara Health. The partners are expecting copilots by RhythmX to give Sentara primary care clinicians access to the “next-best” actions, using clinical and payor guidelines, earlier disease detection, electronic medical record (EMR) data and documentation.

Synadia Raises $25M

San Mateo, California-based Synadia — the maker of NATS.io (NATS), the open-source cloud and edge messaging system for data streaming — closed a $25 million Series B financing round. Synadia, founded in 2017, will use the funds to accelerate the growth of NATS for edge AI and multi-cloud applications. The company names Walmart, AT&T and Rivian as users.
