The tech hardware and services company Lenovo appointed an executive to lead its AI governance and champion its AI policy.
Lenovo appointed Doug Fisher as its chief AI officer, according to the company last month.
He reports to Yuanqing Yang, the CEO of Lenovo, which is co-headquartered in Beijing and Morrisville, North Carolina.
Most recently, Fisher served as SVP and chief security officer at the company, a role he retains.

Fisher's responsibilities include working with Lenovo's Responsible AI Committee, which is composed of leaders from across the company. The committee is charged with evaluating Lenovo's AI solutions against several key pillars: diversity and inclusion; environmental and social impact; accountability and reliability; transparency; explainability; privacy; and security.
Previously, Fisher served as SVP and COO of the data center group at Lenovo, in several executive positions at Intel, including SVP and GM of the software solutions group, and as marketing and program manager with HPE, according to LinkedIn.
He holds a B.S.E.E. from Oregon State University and an M.S.E.M. from Stanford University.
“Security and privacy are two of our top priorities as we lead innovation and transformation in the age of AI,” Fisher said.
