ManTech Names VP and AI Technical Fellow

HERNDON, Va. — The technology services firm ManTech hired an executive as part of an expansion of its global data analytics and AI solutions practice.

ManTech named Kristen Summers as its VP and AI technical fellow, according to the firm last month.

She reports to Brandy Durham, who leads the practice.

Summers is responsible for developing a team of "advanced technical practitioners with deep experience" in the fields of analytics and AI in support of clients' "mission" needs.

Most recently, Summers served as operating unit CTO at Microsoft Federal.

"Her technical leadership will accelerate independent research and development, technical differentiation and strategic technical business development of advanced data analytics and AI," said Eric Brown, chief innovation officer, ManTech.

Summers has more than 20 years of experience in AI and related areas, leading projects on multilingual natural language processing (NLP), optical character recognition (OCR) enhancement and event forecasting. 

At Microsoft Federal, Summers focused on advanced technology that helped solve government clients' "most difficult challenges."

Previously, Summers served as a distinguished engineer, AI CTO and technical delivery leader at IBM's Expert Labs.

She holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Cornell University.
