Engineering teams can now delegate coding tasks directly from Slack channel conversations.

Key Takeaways

  • Claude Code now connects directly to Slack channels.
  • Coding tasks are detected and routed from Slack to Claude Code.
  • Engineering teams can address bugs or features without leaving Slack, reducing context-switching.

Anthropic launched a beta integration Dec. 8 that lets engineering teams delegate coding tasks to Claude Code directly from Slack conversations.

The integration, available as a research preview, automatically detects coding requests and routes them to Claude Code sessions with full conversation context. According to company officials, the system addresses a common workflow challenge where critical engineering context lives in Slack channels — bug reports, feature requests and technical discussions.

When teams tag @Claude in a channel, the AI analyzes messages to determine if they contain coding tasks, then creates a Claude Code session using surrounding context.
