Miro Expands Into AI Development With Model Context Protocol Server

On Feb. 2, 2026, Miro launched its Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, creating bidirectional integration between its visual collaboration platform and AI coding tools. Miro built the server in collaboration with Anthropic, AWS, GitHub, Google and Windsurf (a Cognition Company).

According to company officials, the MCP server connects shared visual context created in Miro with AI agents across organizations. The integration aims to ground AI outputs in real architectures, decisions and cross-functional understanding.

The server connects with 11 AI coding platforms: Claude Code, AWS Kiro, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, Cursor, Lovable, Replit, OpenAI Codex, VS Code and Devin. Miro's existing enterprise security controls and governance policies apply to the new server.

A December 2025 Forrester Consulting study commissioned by Miro found that 75% of global leaders believe most AI tools focus too narrowly on individual work. The company's MCP server aims to solve that problem by introducing new layers of context awareness and automation across coding environments.

Miro’s AI Pivot Gains Enterprise Traction

Miro spent the past year pivoting to an AI-first strategy, culminating in the January 2026 enterprise launch of AI Workflows, a move designed to embed agentic AI directly into team collaboration.

At its Canvas 25 event in October 2025, Miro debuted the AI Innovation Workspace and Miro for Product Acceleration, introducing Flows (visual multi-step AI workflows) and Sidekicks (conversational AI agents) that operate on a shared canvas.

In January 2026, Miro made AI Workflows generally available for enterprise customers, integrating with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini Enterprise, Microsoft Copilot, Glean and Amazon Q.

The company's 2025 year-end recap noted it had surpassed 100 million users across 250,000-plus organizations.

Speed vs. Alignment: The Real AI Tradeoff

In 2025, researchers forecasted a 24% time reduction for developers using AI tools — a number that dropped to 20% after experiencing a slowdown mid-study. Economics and machine learning experts anticipated time savings of 39% and 38% respectively. Yet the study examining 246 coding tasks found that developers completed tasks 19% slower when using AI compared to working unaided. 

With this information in mind, it comes as no surprise that despite rapid adoption, 55% of organizations deploying 100+ AI use cases struggle to operationalize impact. In fact, only 19% demonstrate measurable business value.

Real AI innovation lies in breaking down silos between product, design and engineering teams through unified platforms. Builder.io's Fusion 1.0 is an example of this. The platform integrates Slack conversations, Jira tickets and visual design tools into a single environment where code serves as the common language.

Miro also aims to enter the solution discourse, offering context awareness and automation across multiple coding environments.
