Which AI writing generators are users adopting in the AI market?
The rise of large language models (LLMs) and generative artificial intelligence (AI) has led to a spate of AI writing generators that are designed to help companies quickly and easily produce text-based content. Many of the tools are custom overlays on OpenAI’s GPT-4, and some are based on their own LLMs. They offer a variety of writing — from blog posts to marketing material and emails — and aim to match the output to the voice of the company. Here, we look at some of the top contenders in the AI writing generator market.

1. Jasper

Jasper is an AI copilot that helps marketing teams produce content. It can examine existing content to identify a brand’s voice, or users can upload their own brand or style guide. It automates aspects of project management and offers summaries of comments to streamline the review process. It can turn a single piece of content into multiple pieces for different uses and offers recommendations on how to improve the material. It can also use the company’s art generator to create an image based on text input. Subscriptions currently cost $39 or $59 a month, and a custom subscription with additional capabilities is available.

2. ChatGPT

ChatGPT by OpenAI is the text generator that started all the fuss. It provides text based on prompts, which can be altered by changing the prompt. A customized version for teams can be used to produce text based on proprietary data sets. An enterprise version based on the more advanced GPT-4 model offers high-speed access and advanced data analysis. It allows for longer inputs and memory. Workflow templates can also be shared for collaboration. GPT-3.5 is free to use. GPT-4 is currently available for $20 a month for a personal subscription, $25 a month for a team subscription and for a custom price for an enterprise subscription.

3. Sonix

Sonix provides automated speech-to-text transcription, translation that handles more than 40 languages, subtitle generation for video, summaries that can analyze themes and detect topics and publishing and search tools. The API can be integrated with a company’s workflows, processes, applications and internal tools. It also offers event tracking and team activity tracking. A standard package is currently $10 an hour, while a premium subscription is $5 an hour plus $22 a month per user. An enterprise subscription is also available.

4. Anyword

Anyword is an AI writing platform designed for marketing teams. It analyzes content to predict how well it will perform, analyzes previously published content to suggest ways to improve it and helps manage a brand’s messaging, tone and target audience. It can apply brand guidance to other AI tools, including ChatGPT, Hubspot and Notion document management. It offers plagiarism-free content for blogs, websites, landing pages and emails. Pricing currently ranges from $39 to $349 a month, with custom pricing for enterprise users.

5. Wordplay

Wordplay is a long-form content creator built for search engine optimization (SEO). With minimal input, users can create articles of 5,000 words or more, producing drafts that are 95% complete in 15 seconds. A WordPress plug-in allows for scheduling and publishing articles. There are several ways to use it, including a guided mode that starts with a keyword and walks a user through selecting the title, introduction and subsections. It can also produce articles when given a title, an outline or a topic. Users can get lifetime access at rates currently ranging from $99 for 7,500 words a month to $2,800 for 300,000 words a month.

6. Writesonic

Writesonic is a generative platform for content creation and SEO. It writes blog posts in a brand’s voice and integrates with Google to find the most up-to-date information. It has built-in keyword optimization, along with the option for users to add their own list of keywords. Company data can be integrated using Knowledge Graph. It also has ChatSonic, powered by GPT-4, to provide content creation and ideas. There is a limited free option as well as versions for individuals currently at $12 and $16.67 a month, a team version at $25 a month and a custom-priced enterprise version.

7. Sudowrite

Sudowrite is a fiction generator based on GPT-3 and GPT-4. It includes a story engine that guides a user through an idea, outline, chapters and draft, and the company says it can help someone create a novel in a week. It has a function to add descriptions to characters and helps overcome writer’s block by analyzing what’s been written and generating the next 300 words in the writer’s voice. A rewrite tool helps with revisions, and a feedback tool offers suggestions on where to improve the writing. Subscriptions are currently $10 a month for hobbyists and students, $22 a month for writing longer works, such as a novel or screenplay, and $44 a month for people who publish multiple times a year.

8. Writer

Writer is based on its own LLMs, called Palmyra, and allows users to build custom AI apps for content generation, digital assistance, summarization and data analysis. It has an API to integrate content directly into a company’s applications. It incorporates a brand’s voice, customized rules and templates, but it doesn’t use a customer’s proprietary data for model training. It uses a knowledge graph to understand semantic relationships and achieve higher accuracy. A team subscription is currently priced at $18 a month per user, with custom enterprise pricing.

9. Copy.ai

Copy.ai creates content in a brand’s voice and helps automate marketing workflows. It works with major LLMs, including those from OpenAI and Meta, with a zero-retention data policy to protect a company’s security. It includes a library of pre-selected prompts for activities, such as drafting social media posts, developing product launch emails and creating flyers for events. It offers translations of all marketing copy and product descriptions. It currently has a free version for individuals, a pro version for up to five users at $36 a month, a team version for 20 users at $186 a month and a custom-priced enterprise version for unlimited users.

10. Grammarly for Business

Grammarly for Business provides generative AI that incorporates a company’s knowledge and brand voice. It can turn a short prompt into a draft or turn already written drafts into new ones based on a user’s preferences for tone and length. It can generate ideas, outlines and brainstorms as well as draft emails with context. It works with other business tools, such as browsers, desktop apps, email clients and Microsoft Office tools. It offers analytics to identify strengths, suggest opportunities and measure improvement. Files are encrypted while stored and during transmission. It currently comes in a free version, a premium version for $12 a month, a business version for $15 a month and a custom-priced enterprise version.
