OpenAI sparked today's generative AI excitement in November 2022 by unveiling ChatGPT—an advanced chatbot powered by a large language model (LLM) capable of conversing on a wide array of topics and generating content such as stories, poetry, research articles, marketing copy, and more. This release marked a turning point for marketers, who quickly began adopting generative AI tools to streamline and enhance key activities.

Over the past year, these applications have evolved significantly, expanding their capabilities to include multimodal outputs like video scripts, interactive chat interfaces, and customizable brand voices, while ChatGPT itself is up to ChatGPT o4. For marketers, generative AI now goes beyond creating static content; it enables dynamic customer interactions, automates campaign workflows, and provides invaluable insights for real-time decision-making—all while delivering an endless supply of fresh creative assets.

Saul Marquez, founder and CEO of Outcomes Rocket, a healthcare marketing service, told CMSWire that generative AI certifications have been transformative for his team.

“These programs validate expertise, demonstrate commitment to staying current, and often serve as gateways to leadership roles,” said Marquez. He highlighted platforms like Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, and OpenAI for their focus on hands-on practice, practical applications, and ethical guidelines.

According to Marquez, certifications like OpenAI’s ChatGPT course or Google’s Generative AI for Business Leaders program not only build employee confidence but also equip them with the skills needed to deliver consistent, impactful campaign results. Marquez explained that it is undeniable that adopting generative AI has its challenges.

“Early on, the steep learning curve and the risk of inconsistent output were hurdles, but certifications solved these by demystifying complex tools into bite-size steps and providing guidance for quality.”

Marquez emphasized that these programs have also been a blessing in dealing with ethical issues and how to prioritize data privacy, not to violate copyright, and how to minimize the bias in AI-generated content.
