SAN JOSE, California — The work platform Zoom is introducing a number of new AI features to its products.

Zoom unveiled its AI Companion 2.0 and other AI upgrades to its Zoom Workplace platform and Zoom Business Services line at Zoomtopia 2024, according to the company yesterday.

The AI features are intended to helps teams with communication, collaboration and productivity.

For Zoom Workplace, AI Companion 2.0 is an AI personal assistant that works in a side panel to help users stay up-to-date on conversations and synthesize information to make decisions. Zoom expects the upgraded assistant to be available later in October.

The AI Companion add-on allows users to customize the assistant based on the needs of their organization, including with data from internal and third-party applications. The customization enables a personalized coach function and personalized avatars for Zoom clips.

For the Zoom Business Services line, the company is adding AI-based capabilities to Zoom Contact Center, Zoom Events and Zoom Revenue Accelerator. The features are designed to help customer experience (CX), marketing and sales teams support and retain customers.

For instance, Zoom Virtual Agent can handle multi-intent inquiries, expanding its ability to process several complex customer queries in a single session using enhanced natural language processing (NLP) and integration with knowledge bases.

Zoom Revenue Accelerator can assist with sales prospecting by simultaneously auto-dialing multiple phone numbers, automatically dropping a pre-recorded message when AI detects the call has reached voice mail and transferring calls to sales pros when prospects answer. The product can also record and analyze meetings hosted in Microsoft Teams or an external customer’s Zoom meetings.

Zoom Events users can tap AI Companion for help with content generation, and Zoom Events, Webinars and Sessions users can use AI Companion to help moderate and manage audience interactions and generate summaries.
