Sharon Fisher covers AI infrastructure economics, enterprise AI governance, workforce disruption and the environmental costs of scaling AI systems for VKTR. She has covered technology as a journalist and analyst for more than 40 years.

Sharon spent seven years as a research director at Gartner, where she covered network management and software distribution, and more than six years as a content strategist for The Economist Group, working with enterprise clients including Cisco and Oracle. She is a current contributing analyst at GigaOm.

Her staff positions have included senior editor at InfoWorld, senior writer at CommunicationsWeek and Computerworld and managing editor at Idaho Business Review. She has also written for AI Business, Data Center Knowledge, Network World, InformationWeek, Byte and PC Week, among others. She was an associate editor at CMSWire, VKTR's sister publication, in 2011–2012.

Fisher holds a bachelor of science in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a master's degree with honors in public administration from Boise State University and is the author of Riding the Internet Highway.
